Block out times and days

Close a slot you don't want booked, and shut a whole day without changing your normal hours.

Some days do not run like a normal day. You might have a private party taking the whole room, a wedding, a staff meal, or a morning after a big night when opening at the usual time is not realistic. Rather than editing your regular hours and hoping you remember to put them back, Dinerly gives you two tools that leave your normal week alone.

Close individual times

  1. Open Reservations and click Manage Availability.
  2. Pick the date you want to change.
  3. Every bookable time for that day is listed as either Available or Unavailable, and clicking a time switches it from one to the other.

Customers can no longer book the times you have marked unavailable, while any bookings that already exist stay exactly where they are, so you are not cancelling anybody by doing this. Use it to hold a slot back for a regular you know will ring, or to stop new bookings at 21:30 on a night when you are a chef short.

Close a whole day

When the whole day is affected, use Holidays in the left-hand menu instead. Add the date and then choose either to close completely or to run different hours just for that day.

Holidays are the right tool for Christmas, a national holiday, or your two weeks in August. The important part is that they sit on top of your normal week rather than replacing it, so when the date passes everything goes back to normal on its own and there is nothing for you to remember to undo.

Block dates as early as you know about them. Marking a date next month costs you nothing at all, because nobody has booked it yet. Leaving it until the morning means ringing round everyone who has already booked and apologising, which costs you both goodwill and, quite often, the customer.
