Getting paid — payouts explained

Set up your payout account, see what's on its way, and know when the money lands in your bank.

When a customer pays you online, either for an order on your website or for a reservation deposit, that money is collected on your behalf and then paid into your bank account a little later. Payouts in the left-hand menu is where you follow that journey and see what is still to come.

Payouts can only be opened by owners and admins, because the page shows what the business is earning. If you need to see it and cannot, ask an owner of your business to give you access.

Set it up once

  1. Open Payouts.
  2. Enter your legal business name, which means the name on your company paperwork rather than the name above the door, if the two are different.
  3. Choose your country. This cannot be changed afterwards, so it is worth taking a moment over it.
  4. Click Create account & continue.

You are then taken to our payments provider to finish verification, where you give your business details, say who owns the business, and enter the bank account you want to be paid into. They ask for all of this because financial regulations require it of anyone handling payments, not because Dinerly wants the information.

Verification is not always instant. If the provider needs something more from you, the Payouts page says so and Continue verification takes you back to where you left off.

Reading the page

  • Next payout is an estimate of the next amount heading your way.
  • Available balance is money that has cleared and is ready to be paid out to you.
  • Pending balance is money that is still clearing. Card payments always take a few days to settle, so seeing a pending balance is completely normal and does not mean anything has gone wrong.
  • Schedule is how often you are paid, which can be daily, weekly, monthly or manually.
  • Bank account is the account the money is being sent to.

Manage payout account opens your account with the payments provider in a new tab, and that is where you go to change your bank details or update your business information.

Following a single order

Open any order that was paid online and look at its Payout section. It shows the order total, the card processing fees that come off it, and You keep, which is the amount that actually reaches you. It also tells you where that money currently is, whether it is in your next payout, on its way, or already in your account. This is the quickest way to answer the question “the customer paid forty pounds, so why did I receive less?”

Payouts cover the whole business

If you run several locations under one business, the payouts are settled together across all of them, so you get one payment into one bank account rather than one per location. When you need to see how each location is doing on its own, use Analytics, which does work location by location.

Cash and card-machine payments never appear on this page. That money never passed through Dinerly on its way to you — it went straight into your till or your card terminal, so there is nothing for us to pay out. Payouts only ever covers what customers paid online.
